Hello to Amesbury Soccer Association community.
We hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy and practicing social distancing and best practices to stay healthy.
We want to provide some soccer related updates. With the schools closed until May 4th, the earliest that any games could be scheduled is the weekend of May 9th and 10th, if these deadlines are not changed. ASA is staying update with the various leagues and organizations that our association participates in, and we as an organization will continue to provide updates.
I know that I can speak on behalf of the ASA Board and our coaches, that we miss being on the fields with all of our wonderful players. This upcoming weekend would have been opening weekend for our travel teams. In the absence of organized soccer, we want to provide some soccer skills activities that our players can use at home to get moving and work on foot skills.
The first 4 links are all related to foot-skills and dribbling. They get increasingly more technical, but even the first video are skills that we still use as warmup with our older travel players. The others are both challenging and fun.
In addition, Seacoast United has shared 2 of their own workout plans. These are weekly soccer and fitness programs that they have developed for the Seacoast United players and offered these to ASA for our players too. I have been working with my son on these programs, and they are really great for building fitness and sharpening soccer skills. (Thank you Seacoast!)
3. Coerver Method – 30 Drills for Ball Control
4. More Advanced Foot Drills for Ball Control
5. Seacoast United Home Workout Plan - Week 1
6. Seacoast United Workout Plan - Week 2
The safety of our players, coaches, and volunteers is a priority to ASA. Please be safe and take steps to prevent exposure and illness for you, your family, and other members of our community.
We at ASA will continue to keep you updated on our organization and soccer activities. If anyone has any questions feel free to contact me, your player’s coach, or any of the other board members.
Thank you for your participation in Amesbury Soccer.
